An exceptionally rarely found carmine ground accentuates the labyrinthine facing dragon motifs that combine to enthrall the viewer in the mystery of this outlier Kuba's symbology. Although its elemental saw-toothed dragons seem perfectly balanced, subtle asymmetries in each are gradually revealed. Hexagonal talismanic ornaments are found at each connective junction, flashing like jewels. Luminous ivory, walnut, and periwinkle stepped "blossoms" gently become more compressed as they ascend the field. Throughout the utterly ingenious composition, partial florets, circle clusters, and disembodied buds make for further joyful spontaneity. Ram's horns emblems are stylized in a way found in Central Asian Turkic rugs, here making an appearance in an ancient Caucasian format, perhaps a survival of the convergence of migrating peoples. This fantastic, eminently collectible tribal textile has even, medium pile at some 170 years of age.
