(High-Collectible)
("One of “60 Best-of-Their-Type Rugs Sold in 2022") A rug connoisseur's dream, this extremely old yet extraordinarily well-preserved rug from the coveted Kashkuli tribal subgroup splendidly captures this esteemed weaving style's refinement, balanced complexity, and dignity. At its center is the famous "Hearth of the Eternal Home" motif that adorns many antique Qashqai weavings, joined by two serrated diamond medallions in hunter green enclosing differing floral clusters. Dazzling, ornate botehs (paisley-like motifs) shimmer against the brilliant red ground, each bearing a charming single flower surrounded by tiny blossoms. The clever alternating of dark and ivory outlining of each blossoming seed adds yet another layer of dimensionality. These delicately rendered paisleys continue within the spandrels that deftly shift hues from top to bottom. A captivating series of borders are almost as significant as the field, providing a stunning frame to this already enchanting piece.
