Exceptionally inspired, infinitely delicate Court artistry is on resplendent display in this exhilarating Tabriz carpet from the master designer Hadji Jallili. The traditional Herati pattern shown in the field is thrown on its head in a virtuoso interpretation that finds the viewer mesmerized by the layered approach. From the outer zone of the dazzling kaleidoscope medallion flows an “infinite” pattern of rosette-centered lattice surrounded by curled “koi fish” leaves seamlessly flowing into the sunset red reserve and beyond to the ivory spandrels without missing a beat or losing its rhythm. A fascinating “micro-scale” version rests within the diamond centerpiece and outer spandrels. The unique main border is a flawless hybridization of Herati and Shah Abbas palmettes. Exquisite desert earth tones are replete with abrash color changes that shift into overdrive in the lower half to reveal a luminous azure that descends like rivulets that are catalysts to further hues. Superb pile condition has been retained throughout its grand “palace” scale dimension. This carpet exemplifies the artistic principles of balance and harmony that would significantly affect its environment with a unifying aura.
