("New Arrivals Gallery") Room-size Dabir Kashans from the end of the 19th century are rarely encountered, especially with the marvelous pattern language seen here. This breathtaking carpet's super fine weave quietly reveals an unfathomable multiplicity of detail, presenting an allover fantasy garden design. The lithe budding and blossoming branches swirl as they imitate arabesques, each continually intertwined with the other. Against a highly coveted and more rarely seen background of soft ivory, a seemingly never-ending range of hues animate and infuse this impressive technical and artistic performance with even greater animation and visual interest. The finest and most luxuriant Manchester wool was in its construction, a product that fell out of use by the 1930s. Fine Dabir workshop pieces such as this, preserved in excellent condition and using an appealing palette of exclusively naturally dyed colors, should be considered solid art investments.
