("New Arrivals Gallery") In an adventurous departure from the traditional Akstafa pattern language, unlike we have ever seen before, this endearing tribal weaving displays a totemic flair and energetic aesthetic. A fabulously rendered phalanx of eye-catching legendary peacocks parades across the luminous Caspian blue field, making a conspicuous statement relative to modern graphic art. Each possesses an original, idiosyncratic charm and intensity supported by superbly esoteric geometric devices. The rows are divided by vibrant saffron yellow registers that are adorned with chains of polychrome lozenges. In the bottom row, chinkara gazelle guardians accompany every iconic peacock. Tiny avian forms have hitched a ride on three of them, perhaps the true masters of this menagerie. Offering extremely good condition, this nearly 150-year-old standout achieves a remarkable level of ecstatic Caucasian artistry coupled with superb craftsmanship.
