("New Arrivals Gallery") A virtuoso deconstructed medallion-within-a-medallion design provides an extraordinarily compelling feature of this innovative and evocative Ferahan Sarouk carpet. Flanking its lotus-in-quatrefoil centerpiece are rosy sandstone “petals” that contain flower forms and are intertwined with crystalline blooming vinery upon a soft golden ground. Compartments in each glowing maroon red corner spandrel are actually blossom motifs and appear as though viewing the seafloor through stained glass windows. Every design element seems to be sculpted to near perfection. Nothing emanates color like lanolin-rich wool, and here exceptionally sensitive dyeing is on display in the astonishingly saturated tones found in the composition. Each hue is like a study of the derivative tints of each luxe color due to a finely honed abrash technique found in both bold streaks and finely rippled striations. Its fine knotting and close, evenly cut pile, with the resulting clarity of line showcasing every sculpted detail, significantly contribute to its artistic impact, while its fine weave and heavier pile ensure great durability.
