(High-Collectible)
("One of “60 Best-of-Their-Type Rugs Sold in 2023") The city of Senneh in western Persia, inhabited mainly by Kurdish tribespeople, is renowned for producing carpets with delicate floral designs, overall elegant artistry, and their distinctive fine weaving style unique to this location. This exquisite piece displays a one-of-a-kind and finely etched floral pattern, yet the spontaneity of the weaving gives it a distinctive fluid and captivating artistry. The diminutive central deep indigo diamond is flanked laterally by two pairs of serrated elongated leaves while a pair of over-scale broad palmettes in carnelian red flank it vertically. Angular vinery surround the centerpiece and interconnects with a variety of detailed flowerheads and feather-like leaves. The superbly abrashed and spacious golden wheat ground provide the perfect juxtaposition to the richer tones of carnelian red, sapphire, and midnight indigo found in the floral motifs. Smaller blossoms and even animal figures reside amidst the primary designs if you look carefully.
