This is a standout classical Serapi that offers an awe-inspiring sense of majesty. At the same time, it expertly evokes a welcoming graciousness with luminous mellow colors and evocative botanical forms evoking the splendor of the natural world. A grand multi-tiered medallion is presented like an enormous faceted jewel and embodies the grandeur of this renowned 19th-century Village style. Eccentric individually drawn Prussian blue flame pendants expand into the ivory reserve, adding to the whimsical, botanically inspired artistry. A panoply of sonorous motifs attentively rendered continues in the corner spandrels with a seemingly effortless command of the medium. Timeless, naturally dyed hues infuse the entire pattern with a glamorous glow, with whispers of abrash color shifts and striations subliminally elevating this Serapi to a masterpiece. The contrapuntal posture of the narrow main border is an apropos frame serving to amplify and accentuate the staggering artistry found in the field. This carpet was clearly designed by a highly accomplished and sensitive team who seamlessly integrated the various aspects of this original graceful design into an organic whole. Its remarkable preservation with superb even, medium pile is a testament to its keen durability.
