("Great Lakes Collection") This exceptionally accomplished Caucasian Karabagh tribal rug provides a visceral, deeply affective visual impact through a thrilling demonstration of crisp clarity and dexterous color handling. The weaver's direct, unique connection with powerful forces in her life is apparent as this mesmerizing tribal piece delights the eye emblazoned with a smorgasbord of ancient tribal motifs. Gently animated hieroglyphic birds and legendary gazelles gambol among supercharged snowflake blossoms, split palmettes, and glowing, multi-scale diamonds. Richly dyed luminous exotic colors emanate a warm sheen, imbuing this totemic Karabagh with a powerful magnetism. Vivid vermilion, burnished gold, burnt carnelian, Aegean green, and scintillating indigo are juxtaposed in ways that allow the striking color contrasts to simultaneously become a harmonious cohesion. Meticulous craftsmanship and artistic vision are further demonstrated in the classic Kufic border pattern rendered with meticulous precision and aliveness. It remains in heavier pile condition at well over a century of age. GLC rugs cannot be purchased using exchange credit.
