(High-Collectible)
("Great Lakes Collection") This beguiling, one-in-the-world example of a Caucasian cosmological fantasia reflects the work of a highly experienced, nimble-minded, and adventurous weaving artist. A trio of luxury medallions adorn the center. Their saw-tooth outer edges would interlock like puzzle pieces if reunited with the outer field. Throughout the composition, a lavish variety of surrealistic blossoms take on the forms of Zoroastrian fire shrines, floating Tiffany-style lamps, fiery escutcheons, and imaginative legendary zoomorphic beings. On either side of the lower medallion, two colossal murghi fowl look almost psychedelic. Join the hunt and see what else you can find! Aided by a mild patina, the drawing in this prize find is astoundingly clear, sharpening every motif and illuminating the entire surface with a shimmery luster. Its playfully patterned narrow borders aptly frame the center with numerous spontaneous improvisations, ensuring that the eye never grows bored. As one of the most creative and lushly graphic tribal pieces we have seen, its heavier pile condition makes it a veritable treasure among the copious Great Lakes trove. GLC rugs cannot be purchased using exchange credit.
