This outlier Dorasht is another one of those fortunate discoveries. A beautifully unconventional medallion blankets the reserve, where horizontal bands of varying hues are reminiscent of the stratification of red sandstone formations found in the American Southwest. Its pattern is a series of elaborated reflections with ever more subtle variations in line and shape as to create a palpable sense of movement. In the glowing corner spandrels, a totally different design with the same effect. Precise rosettes and enigmatic forms occupy the undulous perimeter of the medallion. They are botanical abstractions that stimulate the imagination with tulips appearing as carnivalesque masks and fan palmettes as delicate pharaonic headdresses. Elegant Kufic script accompanies tiny sprouts and diamond clusters in a crowning hexagon. It reads, "Commissioned by Amir Assad, Tankabon in Khorramabad dated 1303 (AH)." The series of dazzling border bands feature delightful pinpoint motifs that seem to be coursing around the edge. Barely patinated by the hand of time, it would be the perfect choice to enhance that sophisticated space.
