(High-Collectible)
("New Arrivals Gallery") Timeless design characteristics and an energetic, glittering intensity of color imbue this totemic Kuba weaving a freshness and vibrancy, ensuring an unblemished allure certain to attract the attention of perceptive viewers. Orderly hexagonal compartments are filled with esoteric eight pointed stars, superstylized flowerheads and emerging spiky sprouts. The "S" glyphs that connect the filigree lattice are remainders of sacred Zoroastrian symbolism associated with the eternal struggle between good and evil. It has also been suggested to represent the Far Eastern serpentine dragons which were a propitious symbolic concept that was readily adopted by Near Eastern peoples through distant trade networks. Spritely “roadrunner” like birds (likely modeled on the mythical Persian Simurgh) inspect the flora found in along the ivory miang border pattern. Against tremendous odds, and due to the affection of its previous owners, this piece is in nearly full pile condition.
