("New Arrivals Gallery") As a wonderfully totemic work of woven art, this antique Karaja pushes all the buttons of those who sincerely appreciate the enchantment and spontaneity of creative talent working in a folk tradition. The Karaja triumvirate of geometricized flower stars and central sunburst motif proclaims this rug’s heritage. It is engendered with a fascinating sense of compression and expansion through a dextrous play of scale. The rich crimson background sets the stage for a plethora of charming accent devices such as pinwheel florets, reductionist blossoms, and unique ‘X’ emblems. Resting at the bottom are two hourglass-like devices shaded with scintillating effects through purposeful color fluxes within the azure hues. Its border is a sequence of glowing, interconnected jewel-shaped palmettes. With mostly heavier pile, this village delight is the perfect size to enliven a sitting area or drab transitional zone of the home. On the wall, it would shine as a source of wonder and reflection.
