(High-Collectible) Supported by a culture that deeply valued seemingly spontaneous artistic innovation, this absolutely singular, over 150-year-old Bakshaish carpet is an elemental masterpiece. It attracts the viewer's rapt attention through its subtly changing all-over field design that features ivory split palmettes outlined in luminous azure that stand out among eye-catchingly eccentric florid geometry. Geometricized flowerheads start in a smaller scale at the bottom of the field, then become gradually more colossal, pulsating in the artfully abrashed main border, accompanied by quartets of curious spiky leaves. This piece’s remarkable appeal is further enhanced by its well-saturated color palette, unusually fine weave, and remarkably well-preserved, heavier pile condition
