("New Arrivals Gallery") A sublime High-Collectible work in the Persian Court style, this virtuoso 175-year-old rug offers a gracious design with many pinpoint details and delicate shading of naturally dyed hues. It is the epitome of exquisiteness, with lines that are incredibly delicately drawn. Its use of outlining in a series of rich and subtle tones, with some motifs not outlined at all, creates a sense of great texture and dimensionality. Close inspection reveals an expansive, time-matured color palette, highlighted by aged gold, taupe, velvet red, and ripe apricot. Clearly always a cherished possession, this mid-19th-century rug remains in exceedingly good medium pile condition. While it would greatly enhance either floor or wall, viewing it vertically as a painting would especially allow for appreciating its abundant subtleties.
