Twitter Instagram Facebook Pinterest(High-Decorative) This extremely cheerful, quite singular antique Persian village carpet presents all the most beloved elements of the best turn-of-the-20th-century Heriz rugs, but without the classic medallion format. Instead of this centerpiece, three vertical pairs of palmettes float in the middle of the rug and serve as a subtle focal point around which the rest of the stylized floral display is organized. A beautiful range of rare greens plays brilliantly throughout the carpet's verdant allover vinery pattern, which rests against a perfectly complementary warm rust ground. Rhythmic “abrash” gently introduces yet more harmonious hues as the ground color transitions from pumpkin at the top to crimson then to soft rust red. The Persian village rug's folkloric border greatly increases this village rug's naïveté with its almost childlike drawing of the region’s traditional oak leaf and rosette design.
