It represents the pinnacle of Persian City weaving in the first half of the19th century. The rug's wool is first-rate, giving its surface a regal luster. The drawing of this oversize carpet is exceptionally fluid: swirling border treatments and interconnected serpentine vinery create continual subtle movement throughout the carpet's entire composition. In addition to this consummate articulation of its effusive botanical design, there is an extravagant use of very uncommon, difficult-to-dye celadons and ethereal jade green hues. The depth of the blue-black indigo medallion is incredibly potent, arresting the eye and anchoring this exceptionally intricate visual program.
