(Decorative) This powerful antique Persian Sultanabad carpet presents a striking rendition of the classic Mustafavi (stylized Garden of Paradise) design. Presented in a brilliantly saturated, naturally dyed palette, the stylized rose bouquets encircled by flowing garlands and abstracted fronds create a harmonious interplay between hard and soft elements. The wonderfully abrashed (purposefully striated) midnight indigo field stands in harmonious contrast to the coral red, sky blue, marigold yellow and leaf green in the gracious botanical motifs. As part of its history, this carpet has been extremely skillfully reduced in length, a process that is very sound structurally and barely discernible.
