(High-Decorative)
This exquisitely drawn Abadeh rug brilliantly reflects the distinctive pattern language of the local nomadic Qashqai tribes of Southwest Persia. The column-mounted horseheads are directly drawn from the ancient Persian bas-reliefs of Persepolis, taken from these millennia-old stone ruins as a cherished cultural symbol. The painstakingly elaborate patterning derives from the complexity of the local Kirman tradition, while the vivid saffron gold, royal and lapis blue and bold cinnabar red reflect the vigorous and joyful Qashqai artistry, for whom saturated color was treasured. Lustrous wool accompanies this delightful fusion of city sophistication and tribal energy.
