This brilliantly-conceived, over 140-year-old Persian rug with its double-niched ivory central ornament on a soft watermelon toned field is exceedingly original and very striking artistically. Throughout delicate tendrils meander holding winsome, fragile leaves and blossoms, seen most clearly in the ivory area where they seem to float in three-dimensional space. This type of drawing is quintessentially Ferahan Sarouk carpets, offering a timeless moment in nature frozen in time. The piece is well-preserved for its age and offers a glowing patina that illumines its wide spectrum of beguiling colors. This majestic presentation is framed with an ornate, softly toned main border. Note how the exquisite, densely adorned border suite makes the interior designs seem progressively more spacious, as if moving upward through a forest canopy into airy, open sunlight.
