KARABAGH RUNNER, Southwest Caucasian
4' 0" x 19' 1" Circa 1900 Price: $16,500
(High-Decorative)
This extremely striking antique Caucasian runner features a succession of brass-toned hexagonal medallions, seamlessly connected by diminutive diamond cartouches, each in rhythmic order down the central axis. Exuberant abstracted botanical tulip forms animate the deep midnight field in naturally dyed shades of persimmon, brass, celadon, cinnabar, and gold. The finely etched borders with a curvilinear meander in its main frame accentuate the elegance of this piece. In remarkable, heavy-pile condition, this is a visual delight the would add tremendous refinement and decorative impact to a distinguished hallway.
