MANCHESTER KASHAN, Central Persian
10' 4" x 13' 0" Circa 1910 Price: $22,000
(High-Decorative)
Presenting an intricate display of various finely etched medallions in both field and border, this carpet is a gorgeous example of a particular style of Manchester Kashan. Augmented by the most luxurious of wools, from the first shearing of lambs known as “Kerke”, this formal, floral piece reveals a field of oval pendant shaped devices in an imaginative and evocative allover format. Filling the multitude of flowers, vases, cypress trees, lancet leaves and more is an equally enthralling range of color that includes cornflower blue, sapphire, salmon, rust, burnished gold and brass and chestnut. Its warm terra cotta field color is elegantly subdued, perfect for an urbane setting.
