Presenting the unfathomable technical perfection found in the first generation of Mohtasham Kashan work, this serenely hued 19th-century piece presents great harmony between its exquisitely restrained colors and deeply emotive, sublimely detailed floral design. An ethereal quality is evident throughout. This is showcased in the architectural center medallion, which elongates into crisply drawn palmette pendants with extending tendrils that horizontally connect with the infinite pattern that seemingly continues beyond the border suite. A profusion of highly varied flowers and leaves blanket the sandstone reserve, while the bold main border yields a timeless sense of balance and proportional mastery, anchored by six large flowers blooming into eight-pointed ’Stars of Wisdom.' Furthering the subtly diverse range of colors are soft golds, tangerines, sea greens, midnight indigos, and azures, all carefully chosen for their harmonious interplay.
