("New Arrivals Gallery") Magnetic in its allure, this early Gubpa Shirvan in remarkable condition vividly presents the most prized qualities of this highly coveted sub-style, rarely found in weavings from the latter part of the 19th century. In surveying the composition, one will also take note of a gradual, upward expansion of size and space taking place that creates a palpable sense of expansion. A magically iridescent triad of "radiating" hexagonal medallions and serrated flabellum-like pendants share space on the gently rippled deep sapphire field with crystalline "snowflakes," weavers' combs and esoteric, differing octagonal devices. This striking tableau is embraced by a honeyed gold dragon motif main border. Seamlessly integrated at the bottom are the beginnings of another minor border abandoned for proportional considerations, a desirable survival from the tribal weaver's spontaneous creative process.
