This entirely original Caucasian Seichur Kuba is a work totally outside the box, showing the adventurous spirit of experimentation and mind-boggling virtuosity of the finest weavers of 19th-century Caucasian rugs. Its overall brilliantly interconnected pattern is based on a uniquely conceived motif with roots in the Anatolian Holbein medallion that may have arisen from this weaver’s archetypal sub-conscious. Here Holbein’s strict geometry has been magnificently re-invented to suggest stylized floral components. A wealth of striking rainbow colors greets the eye in shades of lime to emerald, luminous sapphire, tea rose, bronze, burnished gold, and brilliant vermillion, richly framed by a beautifully drawn, signature Seichur main border and a secondary band of reciprocal triangle pairs. With no known published example of its design, this strongly collectible tribal rug is certain to attract the attention of discerning connoisseurs.
