("New Arrivals Gallery") From the famed Bakshaish weaving tradition that values deconstructed, minimalist expression, the unique talent of weavers over a century and a half ago are instantly apparent in this fantastic carpet's incredible spaciousness, archetypal geometry, wide-ranging harmonious hues, and exquisite mid-tone oscillating 'Bakshaish' blues. In the center of the jewel-like medallion, between star-sprinkled golden fronds, is the ancient 'ashik' symbol that harkens to earlier nomadic roots, their penchant for spontaneity preserved in this village style. Floating as though on rippled pools, each motif inside the corner spandrels seem to be alike in shape but trick the eye initially to see repeating patterns as similar when in actuality, each botanic form is individualistically rendered. The collectors who owned this treasure maintained it in wonderful, primarily medium to heavier pile condition.
