(Connoisseur-Caliber) Southeast of Kirshehir in central Anatolia lies Mudjur (also spelled Mucur) a rug weaving town known for niche rugs with pile of soft shining wool, reputed to be the most beautifully colored in all of Turkey. This exquisite case in point has a beautifully unadorned mihrab with an exceptionally rare moss green ground color used luxuriantly. Fascinating rosette accented cloudband panels are found above and below with floral sprig clusters overhead of the stepped gable. It's astonishing that such a potpourri of strongly exotic color combinations — Tyrian purple, fuchsia, cerulean, crimson, and bright gold — can be joined with one another in such a striking yet harmonious whole. Narrow striped bands of circumambulating roses lead to outer borders consumed by a potently hued floral showcase. Lustrous wool and fabulously preserved pile magnify its inescapable appeal.
