This exceptionally handsome piece imagines the "Trees of Life" glowing amid a midnight garden making a wonderfully bold statement with clean stained glass lines and attentive coloring. Hanging from the top of a slender arrow-straight central trunk, a spiky inverted palmette at the top perhaps acting as a "lantern" often seen in other genres. Filling out the main field near towering cypress trees is a cascade of gorgeous leaves, fastidiously depicted in brass tones, spruce green, mahogany, cinnabar, and marmalade. Columns nearly camouflaged as minor borders support an ornate arch frame decorated with swirling feathery vines. Bifurcated lancet leaves flow along the deep sandstone ground in the resolved main border. This finely woven and well-preserved "Tree of Life" format is not often found in Ferahan Sarouk rugs. Its remarkable heavier pile condition means this rug can be equally enjoyed on the wall or floor.
