Virtually every Persian weaving region had its unique interpretation of the "Vase" design that presents blossoming botanical wonders springing from a large urn at the base of the field amidst often phantasmagorical landscapes. This 130 to 140-year-old Tehran gem aptly demonstrates the consummately sculpted detail, incredibly fine weave, and luminous wool surface that enable this virtuoso expression. A robust rose bouquet reaches skyward, fanning out from the opulent central vessel. Enrapturing lush floral foliage leaps off the parchment-toned background, emerging from the splendidly rendered brookside trees. A stunningly vibrant painter's palette of pure natural dyes is employed with the utmost mastery in the generation before synthetic dyes began to be used. In this deeply inspired example, this incredibly luminous, heavy-piled, deeply artful rug fully achieves a palpable sense of nature's fecundity.
