This unusually refined Persian Khamseh nomad rug demonstrates exquisite craftsmanship and tremendous visual intrigue. Its field's highly original zig-zag delineation of the repeating cane stripe design could symbolize running water or perhaps a ripple effect caused by the magically symmetrical conjoined diamond triple medallion centerpiece. Within each shimmering jewel is a cluster of finely detailed pinwheel blossoms, the produce of the life-giving quality of the surrounding "water." The stunning clarity results from a confident, experienced weaving hand who was also a maestra of color juxtaposition, yielding a mesmerizingly controlled dynamism. Its time-softened, naturally dyed color softens the impact of such an energetic design, fostering an immensely harmonious balance overall. Happily, this nomadic luxury is made entirely of soft, lustrous high mountain wool and still exhibits superb heavy pile.
