With its charismatic geometry and undeniable joie-de-vivre, this effusively creative small room-size antique carpet keeps the Heriz commitment to a casual ambiance filled with impactful artistry alive. Its animated border is an unpretentious version of the famed Shah Abbas pattern, which increases this village carpet's cheerful naïveté. In its unusually wide-ranging palette, carnelian, royal, and powder blue with emerald and sea greens are skillfully juxtaposed with corals and golden wheat to a deeply satisfying effect. Rippled abrash gently introduces further harmonious hues throughout. The chromatically talented weavers achieve this by shifting yarns in select areas to produce greater visual interest and multi-dimensionality. This some-120-year-old village carpet has retained very good pile and lustrous, resilient wool.
