The best Persian Veramin rugs and carpets are held in great esteem for their unique refinement for a village production. This rug offers great hand-crafted energy possessing tremendous finesse in its continual, subtly changing botanical shapes. Softened by the gentle patina of great age, a highly desirable ivory field holds an exquisite allover pattern, where a nuanced latticework of quiet blossoms advances and recedes into infinite space. Dreamy colors, including cerulean and delphinium blue, amber, and soft pomegranate, enhance this rug's mature palette. Expert abrash striation accentuates the mesmerizing effect of such dextrous placement of every mellow hue. Only on closer examination do stealthy shades of olive, jungle and pistachio green announce themselves. At the same time, the viewer is enlightened by the wire-thin cranberry red outlining of the smaller starflowers and Shah Abbas palmettes in the border. Deeply lustrous wool and superb, heavy pile condition further heighten the desirability of this enchanting piece.
