(High-Collectible) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This ingenious Caucasian Lesghi, with its rainbow's array of inventively combined hues and esoteric symbols, illustrates an aesthetically unique cultural package distilled over the generations in a woven work of art. A panoply of coveted collector attributes is present in this intensely creative 19th-century piece at once profoundly archetypal and strikingly modern. It is emblazoned by three pixellated "Star of Wisdom" and "Four Directions" motifs that are the beloved emblem of the Lesghi people. Each is bedecked with stencil daisies and a uniquely designed lozenge centerpiece. Lyrical "Wheel of Life" latch-hooked diamonds and a multiplicity of small tribal devices fill the margins of the reserve and are interspersed in the recesses between medallions. Each adds its own continually varied, small-scale geometric ornamentation. What totemic treasures will you uncover within? Throughout, the time-mellowed colors are exquisite and glow with an intensity only allowed by 19th-century mountain wool quality. The product of semi-nomadic weavers, this cherished High-Collectible rugis in remarkable condition after a century and a half.
