Rendering the beloved Mustafavi or repeated wreath design on a golden ivory field is a brilliant departure from tradition and, with its grand size, almost certainly points to it being woven as an important commission. This oversize piece is a High-Collectible masterwork inn the Halvai Bijar style prized among antique rug connoisseurs. Its consummate craftsmanship on such a large scale, coupled with its superb wool quality, further attests to the great magnitude of this extraordinarily well-preserved nearly 150-year-old carpet.
