(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This majestic treasure is a consummate example reminiscent of very early Karachovs before market influences standardized its pattern language. Dating from the early last quarter of the 19th century, its drawing is exceptionally clear, presenting the traditional grand octagonal medallion atop a painstakingly knotted checkered pattern. A spirited variety of elemental esoteric emblems, ram’s horn motifs, and a pair of supercharged cloudband motifs fill the centerpiece. The luscious strawberry field contains repeated motifs arranged artfully in architectonic juxtapositions for maximum visual impact along with Star of Wisdom-filled ivory rectangles. The Egyptian blue border highlights a sequence of trident-like talisman flowers on a vivid meandering vine. As you can see from the high-resolution detail images, this especially handsome rug is in phenomenal condition with heavy pile.
