Twitter Instagram Facebook Pinterest(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery")This little mat woven by nomads in the mountains in the Bergama area of Western Turkey packs a tremendous amount of artistic nuance into its small squarish dimensions. If you are a fan of abrash, these stokes of color striating are brilliant, capturing a bold spontaneity that is mind-boggling. Antique rugs from Turkey sometimes offer a secondary color palette of very soft, very-difficult-to dye, enduring tonalities as is seen here, capturing an emotional delicacy akin to early Mohtasham Kashans. While this style is not a cousin of Caucasian Kazaks, its elemental quality, village weave, and portrayal of enigmatic symbology shares a kinship with that tribal aesthetic. Although some 170 years old, this rare collector's piece remains in exceedingly good condition, a remarkable achievement for a nomad rug. Learn About This Rug Type
