Claremont Rug Company is pleased to present our newest addition to the Featured Arrivals collection, a bright and charming Caucasian Shirvan antique rug. An exquisite, virtually never seen golden ground that shifts through camelhair and butterscotch tones is the tremendously rare central feature of this alluring antique Caucasian Shirvan rug. To this unusual and extraordinarily vibrant focus, the accomplished tribal weavers add an irresistible sense of movement by progressively shifting the alignment of the piece as the freehand lattice pattern ascends the field, then reasserting its more rigid alignment again at the top of the reserve. In the rug’s strikingly original use of the sprig and flower design, each row of flowers is never repeated exactly, instead moving though new, more colorful forms of expression. The rug’s artistic merit would make it a fantastic addition to any connoisseur’s collection, and the small size makes it incredibly versatile. It would be a tremendous addition to a room as a bold piece of art hung on a wall, or would be beautiful in a smaller room or niche in a home.
